They used to just call them sandwiches or donuts...Luckily they don't dub Pokemon anymore. i havnt watched a 4kids version of any tv show in about a year.
but some of the stuff they do does make sence. like Mai's Harpie's armor(the boobie thing).
i get why they would do that.
but i still think it was a little unnessary. |

However, when I got older and learned about the Japanese version, I started to doubt them. Actually, it was because of YGO: TAS I learned of the \"horrors\" of 4kids. Now, I hate 4kids. I totally understand that it\'s for young kids and that some editing was nessicery...(The guns, the harpie\'s armor) But I just wish that they didn\'t add some of those really bad puns (*cough*One Piece*cough*) or get rid of letters and numbers... Also, the whole \"death is bad so we\'re gonna edit out all death\" is just stupid. They may be young kids, but they are smart enough what death is. And if it\'s because of \"we took it out because it might give the kid nightmares\", take a look at Disney! There are characters in their movies that die (Ex: Bambi\'s mom, Mufasa, a few of the Disney Princess\'s mother and/or fathers). I\'m sure that there a few exceptions with this case, but in my point of view, none of those death scenes ever gave me nightmares. Yes, I did cry for a little bit, but never once did they give me nightmares! Heck, I just have to say it: Disney is more hardcore than 4kids! But back to my point, when 4kids take out some of those death scenes, it completely messes up the story line. If 4kids did Naruto, how in the hell could they \"sugar-coat\" Itachi mass-murdering his clan, Orochimaru killing the 3rd Hokage, the end of the Zabuza and Haku saga or every other death scenes in it?! And how did they cover up the deaths in Yu-gi-oh? The Shadow Realm! \"Oh, he didn\'t kill them. They were just sent to the Shadow Realm!\" Ok, I\'ll admit it. At first, I thought the Shadow Realm was kinda cool... But as it went on, it was like: \"Shadow Realm this, Shadow Realm that\". And as soon as I found out that the Shadow Realm was just another tool of 4Kids, that just pissed me off! I know there might be some people who might have good arguments against my mini-rant here. I\'m not gonna chalange them or anything, but this is just my personal opinion. All I\'m saying is that 4kids sucks and they ruined some of my childhood. And don\'t even get me started on \"Mew Mew Power\" AKA: The 4kids version of \"Tokyo Mew Mew\". That is just another paragraph of teenage rants just waiting to happen. |

1. The character that was talking about children's card games was Chazz Princeton (Jun Manjoume in the Japanese version) which i guess you could call GX's Kaibaesque character, as he is rich and snobby.
2. The one talking about moving the plot along is Syrus Trusdale (Sho Marafuji in the Japanese version) he basically would be to Jaden Yuki (Judai Yuki in the Japanese version) what Joey Wheeler (Jounochi Katsuya in the Japanese Version) is to Yugi Muto (Yuugi Mutou in the Japanese version) in YGO. |

I could see why that would possibly be necessary but then again if kids don't know what the basic concept of death is by the time they're 7 then that probably means their parents are being too over-protective. Whatever violent deaths occur in Yu-Gi-Oh are off-screen, and that could probably even be toned down a little. Watching a show where someone gets killed won't shatter a child's innocence. They can still be kids. >.>
I understand that some things have to be censored, but even if they had to censor everything they did there's still more to complain about the Yu-Gi-Oh dub (voices, acting, THE HEART OF THE CARDS *twitch*, etc...)

Back in the day~ when Yu-Gi-Oh was new I did watch Battle City in Japanese as it was being release in Japan. But now it's impossible to find anywhere. And the 4kids version is undeniably SHIT comparatively.

My absolute favorite episode was ruined. >:( It's just brutal.
Yu-Gi-Oh was not original a childish show. It's pretty mature for being about children's card games. But that shit prints money, so I can understand why the dumb it down. I just wish that it would be possible to get your hands on the original Japanese verison nowadays. |

He told me once about being able to download the episodes on their forum, but I'm not sure if he gave me a link. Let me double-check.
I'm still trudging through with the horrible subs, but when he gets my favorite episodes uploaded I'll rewatch those. |

I watched the last episode where Kaiba duels his step-father, and I clearly heard Seto say in English 'Kaiba Corp' and then 'Pegasus' but not once in the subs did it mention anything remotely close. I made it about 3/4th of the way through subbed Memory World, but I just said fuck it.
I'd love to see some good subs. I know where to get all of Duelist Kingdom subbed beautifully. Not sure if we're talking about the same subs when it comes to that. But a link would be nice. |

Well anyways, in the episode where Kaiba is trying to hack into Pegasus's computer system...When he is causing the satellite to crash, it shows the satellite's "perspective" of where its going when its crashing. And before the clouds cover it you can see it's going to crash somewhere in California. |

The real thing does indeed take place in Japan, but 4kids tried to cover that up but only fumbled over it terribly when they got to the Doma Arc. |
