Trying to shelter children from very real things such as cleavage or death will in the long run only make things A LOT worse.
Oh and if I recall correctly my favorite movie at the age of eight was All Dogs Go To Heaven. A movie about a con artist dog who gets shitfaced then murdered by his casino-owning-cigar-smoking partner, only to return from the dead to kidnap an orphan, steal some money, rig a bunch of bets then build is own casino.
I'm sure no one here disagrees that what I mentioned is A LOT worse then the someone getting killed off on YGO. And (to 4kids surprise) I am PERFECT FINE, despite being expose to such /atrocities/.
TLDR; 4kids sucks because they're condescending and doing more damage then they're preventing. |

| #155 Posted 2 months ago | Reply | About card designs... unless the screen is focused on the cards or shows a good portion of them, the shot is from the original episode. For example, in episode one when Joey and Yugi are duelling, as the shot faces Yugi the original borders can be seen around the card design; but when the shot faces the card itself, it's the standard picture at top and card type strip at the bottom.
Also, I've seen some dub versus original comparisons, and they comment on 4kids editing out english text.
Here's a good example I noticed in episode 2:
The sign outside grandpa's shop had "KAME (turtle - represented by a turtle picture) GAME" on it in the original. 4kids took the word "game" off the sign, changing the shop's name to just "TURTLE". Note: A turtle game is one in which the odds are fixed in the favour of the one who started the game (makes you wonder about Grandpa's retail methods). |

| #157 Posted 1 month ago | Reply | | ok ok yes 4 kids does censor...but they dont capture all of it....this may seem farfetched and i dont belive it 100% myself......but in the US version of yugioh....mako tsunami says DI@# instead of deck!!! it must have just been a slip of the tongue by the voice actor and i honestly couldnt belive it! i rewound the dvd about 100 times and it always sounded the same!!! i cant recall the actuall episode but it was in season 2 probably the last epsidoe of makos duel with joey. i was stunned....then i laughed so hard i fell to the floor and almost soaked the carpet!!!! if i remember correctly the actual quote was "THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL MONSTER IN MY DI@#"...........just watch the episode and decide for yourself! |

| #160 Posted 1 month ago | Reply | The only logical reason I can come up with for the english words and numbers censoring is just because America is America, which is known for revolving around money, patents, and suing people as a national pastime/sport, and 4kids may be trying to avoid any problems in those areas by by editing out a 'closed' sign because it may resemble one that someone owns a patent on, but then again they replaced it with a diagonally striked out circle, which could be patented, or maybe the patent on that particular design has expired? lol
something like that anyway |

And 4kids shouldnt take out plot lines. In one of the episodes of abriged, LK said that 4kids took out the "finding joey" sub plot. Jeez, i would have loved to see joey get clobbered. |

And what's the point with censoring things anyway. Look at all the things that little kids (4-14) watch nowadays. And on a few shows, they were talking about how things die in great detail...
I remember on Cid the Science kid (Stop laughing! D< It's not funny! there's nothing on TV!) Anyways.. they have this little sadistic children on it.. and... The teacher took a fresh pumpkins and showed them to the class. Then she showed them a rotting Jock-O-Lantern from hallowwen.. and it was ewwwww. And one of the little girls was like "Aww.. it's DECAAYYYYEEDD!!!! ^o^" and afterwards, when they had to draw what they saw in their journals.... she was all like 'And this is the rotting pumpkin.. and..and I thought it was BEAUTIFUL!!!! <3 <3"
soo... Kids are wathing pretty messed up things nowadays..xD |

| #168 Posted 1 month ago | Reply | I have a confession to make, I was a victim of one of 4kids' tricks, I never 'researched' One Piece on the net I just watched the show and saw some pics on the net (I've seen Ep1> around some episode where they get to the doctor in the country/place with the snow and small reindeer and then some other pirates show up)
Until a week ago, I never knew that sanji had a cig in his mouth all this time o_o, I looked at a few one piece pics and this and that and I noticed they made Nami's "sweater meat" smaller, and a few other small details but that was it, :( nooooooooooooooooo (I'm booked into a japanese anime rehab centre now) |

Just search One Piece in his videos and watch them all... he's said a crap load.
I want to say that kids aren't stupid, but the fact that 4Kids is still in business speaks for itself.
For one, not every kid watches 4Kids stuff.
Even some of the ones who do, they might just watch it because s/he likes the anime itself but knows that stuff was changed and it's tacky or whatever. I was like that when the Sailor Moon dub was on TV. I didn't catch everything but I did get rather tired of hearing the same voice actor 3 different times for 3 different characters, plus tacky one-liners like, "Moon dusted!" or whatever.
As for the rest, since they're only children, it's not that they're stupid, it's that they haven't developed a taste that defines "quality" yet. It just means they're growing, not being stupid. |
