In Beyond Good and Evil, when Pey'j is captured by the DomZ; then later when you (Jade) find him in the DomZ's Lunar base and think he's dead. Daahh, the cut scene(s) ;_;

I loved this game~

I hear they're making a sequel--yay!

Zack's death in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
[ the bastards made us play out the way he died, it made me cry without the last two battles ]

Some video games, more specifically, the ones with stories, such as FF and Metal Gear Solid, are simply stories that could easily have been made into a novel, or a live action movie, but just weren't - you could say it's easier/cheaper to make a game out of a story than a movie, despite Official Aus PSM #28 November 1999 stating that FF8 cost 50million Au$ to produce in a detailed square story.
Besides, when you play either of the cutscene filmrolls from Metal Gear Solid (1998) for example, it's just a movie with 100% CG effects, in MGS1's case, now outdated CG effects, but It still looks great, helped by equally outdated 'motion capture' type movements from the characters, but to me and my immunity towards next-gen-graphic-power-rendering-old-games-unplayable, it still looks amazing.

Okay!!!! Saddest videogame moment! IMO[ - Metal Gear Solid 3, cutscene near the end where you hear Eva narrating in a way that BB/Snake is reading a letter she left behind and imagining her speaking it, and then BB/Snake salutes ]
Many tears
Others for me include:
[ *You submit to the torture in MGS1, so that when you go to wake up Meryl atop MG REX, Snake picks her up, but her head just slumps back, no one I have shown that filmroll to ever expects that, it's such a sharp unexpected thing and changes the mood brutally, not to mention the cutscene after where Snake hates on himself for not saving her.
*A ton of FF8 moments
]

Yeah, that MGS scene with Meryl was definately heartbreaking. Another one from that game is [ when Sniper Wolf shoots out Meryl's kneecaps and one of her elbows, and she's lying there telling Snake not to blame himself. He's only sitting a few few feet away from her, but he's still completely unable to do anything to save her. ]

when lavitz dies in legend of dragoon

Ah yeah, I loved Lavitz. What made it worse was that (I think his name was Andrew) replaced him, and all of his combos were MUCH harder to pull off than Lavitz's.

Not really sad but more shocking is the beginning of Call of Duty: World at War when you are captured by the japanese and they burn on one of your fellow soldiers eyes out and then slit his throat. That sticks with you, man.

COD4's ending was sort of sad.
Twilight princess made me cry.
Mystery Dungeon? I was bawling my eyes out!
Morrigan's ending in DS3, poor Lilith! All she wanted was a body!
Hsien-Ko's ending in DSNW.
Not that this helps but I cried at the end of Sonic X, Pokemon Battle Frontier, Yu-Gi-Oh and various pokemon movies.
I laughed at the GX ending.

Mother 3. Spoilers won't do this game justice, so I'll try to be as vague as possible.

- Chapter 1.
- A certain recurring enemy.
- The effects of modernization and technology.

Ah, you're right, it WAS Albert. It's been a long time since I played LoD, so I'd forgotten some names.

When I found out they were making a sequel to Dead Space. I never want to play a Survival Horror game again!

But seriously I really can't think of any moments in a game I found particularly sad.

But the ending to the Chzo Mythos was depressing. [ After all, you find out that even the great Trilby is just a tool in Chzo's never-ending cycle of pain, feeding him more and more power. And that despite beating four games, the Caretaker has already seen to it that everything happens just as it should have. I mean, it was such a nice thing when I thought the bomb was disabled and I could be happy that the good ol' Prince saved the world, but nooo... the dumb Trilby clone had to go and start a fire and blow the house up anyway! Then it was even more depressing to know that was the ending. ] But to be honest, I wouldn't want it to end any other way.

Number 5: Rinoa in space from Final Fantasy VIII (It edged so close to perfection, but lost it when she came back)
LOL I LET HER GO JUST TO SEE IF SHE WOULD ACTUALLY DIE

I got a kick out of watching her just helplessly float in space. I never really liked Rinoa, so when she disappeared, I just laughed for about fifteen minutes before I realized I actually have to save her in order to continue the game. GAH

My sad moment was during FFVI. Go to Mobliz when you are in the World of Ruin, and watch the cutscene that shows what happened when the Light of Judgement hit the town. Holy damn, that was tragic.

I don't know. Not tear-worthy, but watching someone play Siren Blood Curse and witnessing [ Bella with her face morphed when she was a Shibito ]...it left a bad taste in my mouth.
