As for your opinion, you are welcome to it, however, your attempts to force it upon others are not.
On a side note, resorting to name-calling is never an effective way to demonstrate a point, and I assure that it is in no way appreciated.. |

| #285 Posted 2 months ago | Reply | Now for an actual literary argument, when you're talking about books and interpretations, there isn't a "right" or "wrong" answer.
Since vampires don't exist, anyone can portray them however they please. It's one thing if you don't like the interpretation, which is perfectly fine by all means. It's another to call it wrong as if you have almighty reign over what is allowed to be said about a fictional group of creatures.
Anyone who feels they have the right to call something like vampire interpretation "wrong" should consider studying English Literature a bit more; you'd be surprised at how subjective English Literature really is. Some people find that subjectivity irritating (mostly because in high school it's taught as some sort of mesh of "objective subjectivity," which is quite sad and a HUGE misconception) but I find it the true beauty of English as a whole, that it's OK to feel differently from someone else. That's what makes us people, equal yet different. |

You can hate Twilight as much as you like. I don't really care because I understand why you don't like it. |

| #290 Posted 2 months ago | Reply | If anyone cares...
I remember that earlier some people and I were debating whether the vampires or the werewolves were faster in the water. I don't remember what we said. But I did re-read New Moon the other day, and Jacob said something to the effect of this after he saved Bella from drowning/Victoria:
"I thought I'd come back here to LaPush... thought she'd try to double-back through the water... the bloodsuckers have the advantage there..."
So the vampires have the water advantage. End of discussion. |

|
| #291 Posted 2 months ago, in reply to post #290 by KuramaStrassCullen | Reply | I disagree.
This doesnt mean that vampires are faster in the water; it means they have an advantage in the water.
While this may seem to be the same thing, an advantage doesnt necessarily mean faster in pure speed. And the vampires have many advantages that the werewolves dont have that would assure them victory. There are three main reasons, as I see it:
1. Werewolves need to breathe. Vampires don't. They are capable of drowning, so if their endurance was about to give, they would be forced to abandon chase. Vampires however, could just keep swimming, underwater.
2. Vampires seem to have infinite endurance. I dont know this for a fact, but regardless they seem to have an endurance far higher than that of a werewolf. This coupled with the fact of not needing to breathe would mean instant water victory for the Vampires. Nevertheless, there is one more point...
3. The werewolves would not be able to track a vampire through scent. Surrounded by all that water, a vampire's scent would be all but smothered; once the vampire got out of sight, the game would be over.
While you may be right about vampires being faster, this is not a given fact. For all we know, werewolves could be faster in shorter distances! |

I didn't say that. And anyway, Jacob says the werewolves are faster. "We caught... what's his name. Laurent? I suppose that means more to you." Something like that. |

I don't think the time of day matters to anyone but the humans in this series. |
|
|
| #295 Posted 2 months ago | Reply | Yeah. That was all happening during the day.
Well, technically, I guess time of day kinda matters to Edward since he's almost always with Bella... |

| #296 Posted 2 months ago, in reply to post #291 by TwilightBasher | Reply | | well vampires cant go out in the day and they also due to myths have a fear of swallowing which is also the fear of water |
