| #2 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Well, my personal favorite is Dennis Jurgensen. Especially his Relief series. But i don't think his books are in any languages besides Danish. But i don't think Mangas and normal books can't be compared to each other, so i have to say Akira Toriyama too :D |

| #3 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | I have a lot of trouble picking between a few- Jane Lindskold, Mercedes Lackey, Robert Jordan, Stephanie Meyer and Anne Bishop. I'll agree with Floreance, too, on the manga bit. In that case, though, I go for series' over authors. I don't always like every single manga-ka's work, and so I won't say anything on that. XP |

| #4 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | Douglas Adams.
(I know what you're thinking, but if you don't think HHG2G qualifies as fantasy, you need to read more science fiction.) |
| #5 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Oh, I'll agree with Doulass Adams- he's most definitely fantasy. Anne McCaffery, however, is all Sci-fi; but it's probably a good thing that people tend to lump Science Fiction and Fantasy into one combined category. |

| #6 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Piers Anthony is one of my mine. I've only read the first ten Xath novels but they were great. Douglas Adams fiction is it's own genre in itself if you ask me. |
| #7 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Stepenie Meyers' Twilight series is definitely my favorite vampire series. But other than her, I find most fantasy to be repetitive and boring. |
| #8 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | I have a whole horde of favorite fantasy authors, but my top three are Piers Anthony, Jane Yolen, and Erin Hunter.

| #10 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | Probably John C. Wright. I've only read the Chronicles of Chaos trilogy of his, but I really liked it.
It seems like everyone I ask has never heard of him... anyone read John C. Wright? |

| #11 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | DNA for the Win :-D I love Douglas Adams. Always will.
Edit: Although I've only read one of his books, Takashi Matsuoka's "Cloud of Sparrows" is a great novel, with history and fantasy mixed together. Very good :-D |

| #12 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | it's seems like there are alot of Douglas adams fans. sad to say i am possibly one of them. i like David Eddings and Raymond Fiest are my two faves. but i also love Tamora Pierce. | #13 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | I don't read a lot of fantasy but for what it's worth I really like David Gemmell's stuff. He doesn't seem to go for the traditional fantasy fair with lots of mystical creatures and magic (though they are there).
I've yet to finish Stephen Donaldson's, Thomas Covenant novels but what I've read I realy like and it seemed quite gritty.
I'll just add I really enjoyed Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susannah Clark. |

| #17 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Well if you consider artmis fowl, the supernaturalist and the wish list a group of fantasy books then Eoin Colfer is my choice |

| #18 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | R. A. Salvatore is one of the few fantasy writers I can read consistently. His description and character development are phenomenal. |

| #19 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | I'll just add I agree with Halifax, I still need to pick up the final book of The Hunters Blades trilogy. I nearly jumped for joy at a few points in the second book. |

| #20 Posted 1 year ago, in reply to post #19 by DrunkenPrayer | Reply | | You haven't read the third one yet? That is, by far, the best of the trilogy. I'm just waiting for him to start his next one. I'd say more about it, but that would involve ruining the book for you. |

| #29 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Diana Wynne Jones probably. Chrestomanci is too cool. I liked Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell too. Does Salman Rushdie count? Midnight's Children is sorta fantasy. ^_^ |

| #30 Posted 6 months ago | Reply | | It use to be J.K. Rowling, but she got topped by Stephanie Meyer. Woot! Vampires! |
