A young Magician-in-Training summons a demon to help him seek revenge on another magican who embarases him in front of his master and accidently discovers that there are renagade magicians planning to over-throw the prime minister of London....or something like that....anyway, its a really great trilogy worth checking out. |

I like the trilogy, although it's not one of my favorites. (Some parts I found a bit draggy, especially in the second book.) The third book was great. Awesome ending. |

Sorry) I totally love this series by Jonathan Stroud. Bartimaeus is a smart ass demon and I love that. Stroud's take on magicians and is totally amazing. It puts them in a totally different light that what you see in Harry Potter. (Not talking bad about Harry Potter, I can do that in my other free time. (Now look what I did, I have to create a second parentheses within a parentheses, "Ok, Harry Potter was not bad.")) My favorite aspect of the book though, was the footnotes at the bottom of the pages where Bartimaeus would explain the past, or just plain out say some smart-ass comment. If you like magic and demons, I would totally suggest to you The Amulet of Samarkand, The Golem's Eye, and the... (damn it... I just read this one over the summer too. Well hopefully someone in the thread mentions it.) If anyone has their own view on the trilogy I would be glad to hear it. Oh yeah, by the way, the ending was really good (better than Harry Potter's (sorry) ), but the kind of guy I am, I need a lot more closure in my endings.

YES. I loved those footnotes. (And they were probably why I sometimes got bored when reading the parts in Nathaniel's POV.)

While reading Nathaniel's part led you more into the world of politics, I'd rather read Bartimaeus's part. I would always kind of sad when I saw Bartimaeus's chapter ending. Although, I kind of liked Nathaniel's part in the third book, that wasn't so bad to read. |

| #14 Posted 5 months ago | Reply | I adored this series the first time I read through it, so much so that I recommended it to many of my friends and to my dad, who also loved it. I put this series in my Top 3 Series of All Time. Here are my comments on each book...
The Amulet of Samarkand: This was really a fun book. I adored Bartimaeus the moment I started reading his point of view and the antics of Nathaniel and Bartimaeus were amazing.
The Golem's Eye: I agree that this book dragged a little bit, but I also enjoyed hearing more about Kitty and all them. I think this book made fanfiction writers very happy as well.
Ptolemy's Gate: Kitty became an even more kick-ass character in this one (I know I'm focusing heavily on Bartimaeus and Kitty, but I liked those characters better than I liked Nathaniel). I hate how it had to end in Ptolemy's Gate, but I understood it, which made it a good ending. |

| #15 Posted 5 months ago | Reply | | I have to say that when I first picked up the book that I didn't like it that much. It wasn't until i actually read it that I though that it was awesome. It was an interesting book series with wonderful characters and a totally unique plot. The mastery of managing to do so many pov's (point of views), was really incredible. The Amulet of Samarkand was a great starter book. It told you everything you needed to know and gave you insite to upcoming characters. The Golem's Eye confused me a bit with the adding on to Kitty's story but I realise now that it was needed for the final book. It definatly dragged on for a bit, but gave some good background. And Lastly, Ptolemy's Gate, was the most amazing finally. The evolutions of all the characters made a wonderful twist. And I agree with ClarinetWrathArineko about the ending. It was necissary but quite upsetting. |

| #17 Posted 4 months ago | Reply | | FInally I've found people who agree with me that Golem's Eye dragged on way too much. My friend's thought it was better than Ptolemy's Gate just because of the fact Nathaniel dies. Speaking of which, I love how, even though in Golem's Eye and early Ptolemy's Gate he was such an asshole, (don't agree with me? He turns Bartimaeus into a puddle (practically)) he ends up sorta nice. At least he set Bartimaeus free before he died. Anyhow, that at least helped you deal with his death, which I see why it was necessary. |
