Who else here reads that? It's not as good as Harry Potter, but it's the best non-Harry Potter book I've ever read. Does anyone know anything about book #3?

I thought the books far exceeded Harry Potter. But the movie stunk. But so did the HP movie. Boo!

Yeah, the Eragon movie did stink. And the new Harry Potter movie was my least favorite yet, although the fight scene at the end was super special amazing. Still, the books redifine literature.

Love Eragon and Eldest! The movie graphics wise was great, but was like the script writers ate the book and vomited it back out. Twice.

I've read them and enjoyed them. Not my favorite books, but I've read much, much worse. I did like it enough to finish the trilogy though. Anyone know when the final book is projected to come out?

The Bartimaus (ms) trilogy greatly exceeds this, and is also greatly exceeded by Harry Potter. I personally really liked the new Harry Potter movie. It didn't feel as rushed as the fourth.

LittleKuriboh should do an Abridged version of the movie.

I don't know if LittleKuriboh can abridge the Eragon movie. It's not a cartoon, so it's much harder, I imagine. Still, if he could, that would make the movie a lot better.

I read Eragon and now have no desire whatsoever to read Eldest. Eragon just wasn't my cup of tea, I guess. And talk about totally ripping off of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.

eragon was great, eldest met expectations beautifully, and the movie sucked goofy balls (dont ask, my friend started saying it when playin kh CoM). i think that with a flop out of the way, we can expect another masterpiece. any updates on when to expect it?

I loved both Eragon and Eldest. I can not wait for the third book to come out. I personally think the green dragon will hatch for either Arya or Roran. Moreso Roran.

I thought that Eragon and Eldest were good books, extremely predictable, but a good story nonetheless. I'll be buying the third book when it comes out.

I heard a rumor from my librarian at school that the third book would come out in November. But she could have been just guessing.

Eragon was a good book and Eldest was about the same, can't wait for the third one.

I sure hope that the rumor is true.

I read the book after watching the film (which i thought was good till i read the book) and was amazed at how much more depth there was to the book and how much was left out of the films, it made the omissions from the harry potter films look trivial.
And to kycoo he was ripping off anne mccaffrey.

I read both Eragon and Eldest. They were excellent books, especially considering this is the author's first two books. I did watch the movie and it was pretty bad. They added much more violence than was described in the book and cut out important events in the beginnign. The only thing I enjoyed about it was the music and the CGI effects for the dragon. In nearly all cases, if not all, books are better than the movies made from books. I really hope that they don't turn Eldest into a movie. They cut off a lot of important things in the first movie from Eragon for that movie to make sense of.

That would be so cool if that November rumor was true. I actually heard that the third book would come out next summer. I don't know if that's true or not, but I'm looking foreword to reading those books. I really enjoy reading.

I did like Eragon as when I started reading it, and find it mildly enjoyable. Paolini does put in decent attention to detail during actions sequences, but the story has many plot holes and flaws if you look for them. The only real problem with the story is the lack of originality from the plot, an example of which is below .
(warning, buzzkill alert):
[ Back in the 70's, , there was a trilogy starting with a young boy, who lives in the middle of nowhere, and comes into contact with a strange object. He later meets a hermit who knows a great deal about this object, and that it belonged to an order of special warriors who were wiped out by an "evil" empire. Shortly after that, he finds his home destroyed, some of his family dead. He and the hermit go on a quest, taking this mysterious objet along with a sword that belonged to his father. Eventually, the boy meets up with a rogue and the hermit is killed along the way. The boy and the loner also rescue a beutiful captive and meet up with an organization decicated to stop the Empire. The boy plays an important part in an enormous battle shortly afterwards, helping destroy what could have been the end of the rebellion. ]

One last thing. Arya says that elves are vegans, and dopn't eat meat, use animal products, all that jazz. But why on earth does she wear leather? I'm very certain it doesn't grow on trees.

Honestly, people who praise the Inheritance books to an ridiculous extent really do annoy me. They're a "fun" read, but from a literary perspective, they're honestly quite...pathetic.

Ignoring details and such, the major thing about the books is the plot.

"It's amazing and well thought out!"

No, wrong. It's a cheap rip-off. I made the following a while back fairly quickly, so don't complain about the lack of details, but they do capture the core of the Inheritance plot quite well:

God I love you D: SO TRUE. I love Dharc too. <3

The Eragon series is fun to read, (Because I'm a dragon nut) but it's not very good. The plot is really stereotypical, the characters are pretty bland, and his quality of writing is okay. The two above me summed it up pretty well.

I read the first few chapters of the first book and accurately predicted the rest of it. In both books, there is a grand total of ONE plot twist that actually surprised me, and that's my fault, I should have seen it coming a mile away. [ Murtagh being Eragon's brother ]

BUT. It does give me hope for my own novels! =D

Seriously, the eragon movie was the worst thing ever to exist on the silver screen. The books are better, but unimaginative and a rip off of other, better, more amazing thinge (i.e. star wars). If you want a well thought out, extremely satisfying, and epic book series, go read either the Sword of truth Series by Terry Goodkind or the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Both series are over 10 books and are nearing their conclusions.

I honestly didn't see much of any Star Wars simarlities in either one of the books, but I never seen much of any Star Wars movie. I felt like it had more of a influenced feeling from The Lord of the Ring series. When I saw the movie, I did notice more of the basic simarlities, especially during the final battle. It was like Star Wars, only with dragons instead. The Inheritance books are really fun to read, and I'm still looking foreword to the third book very much so, but there are better fantasy series out there.

You're judging it based on the movies?

Maybe I mispoke. I don't see where I was judging the books based on the movie. I said that when I first read Eragon, the book, I didn't see too many simarlities to Star Wars in it. When I saw the movie, one of the worst movies based on a book that I've ever seen, I noticed more of the simarlities the story line had with Star Wars, especially when they were fighting at the end. It was like all of those Star Wars ships blasting each other, only with a dragon and evil magic instead. For some reason, when I was reading Eragon, I didn't really see much of anything simlar to Star Wars in that last battle.

I still enjoyed reading both Eragon and Eldest, and I still plan on getting the third book when it comes out. There are much better fantasy series out there, but I don't think that the Inheritance is that bad.
