Baseball season last minute, bold predictions.

| #1 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | Well, for those of you who have forgotten that there has been an MLB season this year, draw your attention from Patriot video recordings and Chad Johnson for only a brief moment if you are interested.
Well, the regular season has less than a month left. I'd say now is the time to make last minute predictions. It can be a prediction about anything this season in baseball; who will make the playoffs?; who will win it all?; Who's gonna be the MVP? (*cougharodcough*); Who's not gonna make it? etc.
AL Playoff contenders.
-East: Red Sox- They will make the World Series, they are just too good to not get that far. If they face the Angels in the ALCS, I predict they'll make the World Series, If they play the Indians...I still predict they'll make the world series.
-Central: Indians-It's too obvious. Yes, the Tigers are breathing down their necks, but if the Tigers don't have anything for the Yankees, they don't have anything for the Indians. It depends on who the Indians play in the ALDS as to how far they'll go.
-West: Angels-Well, duh. This team is all but locked in for the AL West, as for how far they'll make it, it depends on who they play. If they play the Yankees, they may actually lose, but they have a better chance of losing to the Red Sox.
-Wild Card: Yankees-Yes, they are a much better team than they were most of the season, but I still don't think they'll make it past the ALDS, unless they get lucky and play the Angels, because they've wiped the floor with them this season.
-MVP: A-rod. Well, c'mon, how can you not give it to him?
NL Playoff Contenders
-East: The Mets- True, they haven't been playing good baseball as of late, but if you look at the Phillies in the past couple of seasons, they've always had a late-season surge, but then they just fall right back down. The Mets will at least be a threat for the World Series.
-Central: Oh Damn. Isn't this a tough one? I'm gonna go with the Brewers, but there's a good chance I'll be wrong on this one. I like the organization, and I have faith in them. As cool as it would be to see the Cubs back in the playoffs, I just don't see that team being good enough for it yet.. The Brewers should have a good enough team to make the ALCS at least.
-West: The Diamondbacks- They've had too good of a second half to not make the playoffs. I predict they'll threaten to make the ALCS, but they may fall short. I've never had too much faith in the NL West.
-Wild Card: Without a doubt, the Padres. They've also been playing good baseball. I have a lot of respect for that organization, but I still refuse to believe that any team from the West can win anything this season.
MVP: I don't really have one right now, I could guess anyone on the Phillies right now, but I don't know if there's someone better. Unfortunately, I don't know the NL players enough to pick one.
-World Series:
Red Sox will play the Mets, and beat them in 5 or 6 games.
The Red Sox are too good this season. True, they have been slipping lately, but if they can clinch their spot in the playoffs, they can relax, get their act back together, and take off in the playoffs and show the league the talent their team has this season. That, and the Mets haven't been able to stand up to the Red Sox at all.
Well, those are my bold guesses on the season. What's yours? (They don't have to be this rediculously long) |

| #2 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | I think I'll be crying for most of October. My Cardinals were literally 3 runs out of first in the Central, then the wheels completely fell off the wagon. Hell, most of the wagon is gone at this point. It's pretty much just that little handle they use to pull them. That's all that's left. How can you freakin' make that large of a charge in August, then go on to lose 11 of 12? That's just absolutely embarrassing.
There's no freakin' way LaRussa should've been starting Maroth and Mulder. No reason whatsoever for that BS when you're in the middle of a pennant race. The former has been absolutely worthless since he came over, and the latter had virtually no chance to contribute this season anyway. He hasn't pitched in over a year, and you're throwing him into the middle of that? When the starting rotation was actually pitching well?! It makes me wanna rip my hair out...
Anyway, I have all of the same playoff picks except for the WS. I've got the Angels and Padres. Just to spite everyone on the East Coast. XD Not really, but if that happens, you know every sports writer in New York and Boston is going to be bitching about it. |

I would like to remind people that my prediction was made before the Sox were swept by Toronto XD |

| #5 Posted 1 year ago, in reply to post #4 by Redsoxpsyco | Reply | Yeah, well, last year the Cardinals basically just fell into the playoffs because no one in the Central was good enough to pass them. I can't think of a single person, even in St. Louis, who REALLY thought we had a chance. Of course fans always believe, but we always have that little voice of doubt in our heads. Everyone picked San Diego.... then they all picked the Mets... then they were looking at a sweep at the hands of Detroit... And I think we all know how that turned out.
So basically, once you're in, you can throw out those little embarassments. XD |

| #6 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Well, the Brewers are officially eliminated, and the Mets have an elimination number of 2, so they're out with any combination of 2 Phillies wins or Mets losses (meaning they could be eliminated from the Eastern Division today). Padres are in a situation of win-and-in, with the Mets and Rockies each 1 game out. |

| #7 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Final day of the season... kinda.. The Mets are out, and the Rockies have forced a one-game playoff with the Padres for the Wild Card spot (AT Coors Field). |

| #8 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | I'm so excited to finally see my hometown Phillies make the playoffs. It's enough to make a dude cry a single, shining tear. |

| #9 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Gotta give it to them. Coming back from 7 down with 17 to go is a major accomplishment without a doubt, and the 2007 Mets HAVE to go down as having had one of the biggest chokes in MLB history (if not the biggest). But at the same time, I think if the Rockies win tomorrow, that story almost has to top it. They will have had to win 14 out of 15 games to make it in, and even losing one more game would mean they'd be sitting at home right now. |

| #11 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | What an incredible finish to the regular season. The Rockies and Padres were tied 6-6 at the end of 9, and for 3 innings it seemed like the game would never end... that is, until the Pads' Scott Hairston launched a two-run shot to give them the lead with Hoffman coming in to save the game. Game over.
WRONG!
The Rockies start stringing some hits together, and Matt Holliday scores the game winning run on a sac fly to give Todd Helton his first trip to October baseball on a somewhat questionable call on the play at the plate, but the result still stands. The Rockies are making only their second playoff appearance in their existence. |

| #12 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Jeebus, this is just unreal. It seems like NO ONE can beat the Rockies. They've lost ONCE in the past month. ONCE. No exaggeration, they've lost just ONE game since September 16th - exactly one month ago. And now they're gonna have over a week off while waiting for the winner of the Indians/Red Sox series (which Cleveland currently leads 2-1). Will they be able to keep it up with such a long break? We'll see... |

| #13 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Stupid prediction from me: Rockies will sweep the World series. Has there been a team in history to ever go undefeated in the playoffs (in sports that have best-of-3, 5 and/or 7 series)? |
|
|
| #14 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Rockies win the world seires against the Red Socks in four games |

|
| #15 Posted 1 year ago, in reply to post #13 by WillyFourEyes | Reply | | None that I'm aware of (but I wouldn't be surprised if there were)... But in most sports you'd have to classify it anyway. Keep in mind that in the past few decades most sports have expanded. WAY back in the day, the World Series used to be the entirety of the playoffs (i.e. no LDS or LCS). The only other MLB team to win its first 7 games in the playoffs was the 1976 Reds. However, this falls into one of those aforementioned categories because after 7 games, the Reds were crowned WS champs. The Rockies would have to win 11 straight to be named champs (while remaining undefeated). |

| #16 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | Whether the Rockies keep the undefeated streak goin' or not ain't important to me. As long as Colorado beats the Red Sox, I'm happy. Could be a sweep, could go all seven, just so long as the Sox lose. Go Rockies. |

|
| #17 Posted 4 months ago | Reply | | Go Red Sox! They swept the crappy Rockies to win the World Series! WOOT! |
|
|
| #18 Posted 4 months ago | Reply | | The Phillies will keep their NL East lead for the rest of the year. and make it to the world series. (I hope.) |
|
|
| #19 Posted 4 months ago | Reply | | I actually like the Phillies to win as well. Them or the White Sox. Or the Rays. Anyone but the Red Sox this year, really. I like the Sox, but I don't think they deserve the World Series twice in a row, considering how Lugo, Ellsbury, and even Manny Ramirez are doing this year. I'm just glad David Ortiz is back. |

| #20 Posted 3 months ago | Reply | Attention Duelists! The Brewers will win the NL wildcard, Cubs win NL Central, Diamondbacks win NL west, and Phillies win NL East.
The Rays win the AL east, The Angels the AL West, The Twins the AL Central, and those darn Red Sox the AL Wildcard. |
|
|
| #21 Posted 3 months ago | Reply | Cubs win central, Cardinals win wildcard, Phillies the east and D'backs the West.
Rays win the East, Angels the west, Twins the central and White Sox the wildcard. (Is it wrong to dream about an October with neither Boston nor New York? I think not.) |

Twins seem to choke in the playoffs. |

Ryan Howard and the Fightin' Phils might have something to say about that.....
Howard better win his 2nd MVP award I think league-leading 48 HRs and 146 RBIs is enough even if he lead the league in Strikeouts. |
