We named ours football also. We call international football soccer to prevent confusion. I believe the term came from originally playing in socks or stockings, but I am not sure.God your a nation of people who cant name things imaginativley 'New England' 'New York' the list goes on and on.
Surprise, the British named New England, New York, New Jersy, New Hampshire, etc., not the Americans. Quit making pointless rants.
On-topic:
In general, soccer (I will call it such to prevent confusion, although it really doesn't matter) is considered a less manly sport in America usually because it is not as popular so many people haven't actually experienced what it's like to play soccer. From the sidelines, it really does look like an easy, safe sport. I know this is untrue, but that is merely the general conception. |

| #7 Posted 3 months ago, in reply to post #1 by NMPTILU | Reply | | it is not manly at all. It is a bunch of blokes running on a field and if another person even comes close to touching them they fall on the floor and demand that the ref sends the other guy off. Thats why Rugby is sooo much better |
