I wanted to join the chess club at primary school but the dinner lady who ran it was an evil biatch who hated my guts for no reason. Her words were probably "when hell freezes over" |

Besides, if Eating, Arm Wrestling and Rock Paper Scissors are sports (let's not forget Poker either) ((I shit you not, here in America these are referred to as sports)) than chess should be too. I think sport is defined as a competition between players who practice and study to overcome the competition. If that is the case, chess is a sport. |

| #18 Posted 1 year ago | Reply | | I play chess with first with PC, trained, then beat all my friends, then go to yahoo chess. I played a while but later it was too much boring to be beaten by someone cheating in the other side, so left it. I play however quite good now. |

A lot of people study and train rigorously for tournaments and is more challenging than arm wrestling and rock paper scissors. It is not about brute strength, intimidation or luck but strategy and tactics. The strategic and tactical aspect of this sport is comparable to that of soccer and other ball games where training and planning are as important. |
