... with tons of rants. (Note: apologies to those who don't understand my rants...)
Anyway, I, Dix, was given the chance by Kroze to get up on my little soapbox and make a news post (and to those of you who don't like it... DEAL WITH IT and blame him!). Sadly, I won't have this powah for much longer. Oh and btw, LK should be back real soon... now... since I have this post, I'm gonna clear some stuff off my chest... please fasten all seat belts and put all trays in their upright and locked positions... its gonna be a bumpy ride!
Anyway, as you may have gathered from the title, I've been wasting my time with Halo 3. I was gonna make a post regarding the awesomeness that is Portal, but that annoying little brit, Ben beat me to it. Anyway, Halo 3 has been dominating my 360's playtime. I've been playing the game for almost a month now due to Kroze getting it early and me bumming off of him. So, we beat the campaign in a marathon (heh) session before the game even came out in like 6 hours. Halo 3 Gripe #1: Only 6 hours? Please son... I'd have loved to have a much longer campaign mode. Oh well.
But as any self respecting gamer should know, Halo has been all about multiplayer game action. I don't think I've ever had as much fun playing multiplayer than I have playing Halo... however... Halo 3 Gripe #2: The multiplayer Matchmaker sucks arse! How many games of Shotty snipers or Big Team Battle VIP can you play? Oh well... (again). Oh and the damned matchmaker always seems to match me up with crappy teammates. I've played about 200+ matchmaker games and i've won less than half of em. At this rate, it will take me forever to reach anything past lieutenant or captain in the officer rankings. Meanwhile, some pathetic loser has reached the rank of General and played close to 2000 (thats right... THOUSAND) multiplayer matches. God person, get a frickin life already.
Oh and interesting tidbit, according to this article, in the first week of its release, people spent a combined 4,500 YEARS worth of time playing Halo 3. Imagine what good could have been accomplished in the world with that time spent... Oh and Halo 3 is now the new scapegoat for the film industry, which is currently suffering from one of its worst October box offices in years. No, it has nothing to do with the absolutely shitty movies currently out, its ALL Halo 3's fault. Excuse me while I go roll my eyes.
But enough about my griping... I'm sure all you little minions wanna know about who won the caption contest? Amirite?
WELL TOUGH!
First, some shameless plugging.
As Ben mentioned in his last news post, YGO:TAS will have a presence (ie a booth... or boof for you crazy spellers out there) at Nekocon on November 2-4. Kroze tells me that we WILL have the new shirts available at the con, so for all of you in, near, or even far from Hampton, Virginia... GET YO ARSE TO IT! Plus, you can take pics with Kroze and I as the two of us will be manning the booth (note: YGO:TAS is not responsible for any cameras breaking due to Kroze's ugly mug).
And speaking of anime conventions, I hope to GOD that its better than the time Kroze and I had when we went to Otakon in 2006. Oh and I'm not a huge anime fan... so me going to an anime convention would be like most of you going to like the Super Bowl... (ie. you'd be a fish out of water). Now, I'm sure you all know about how cosplayers run rampant at these things... well, I still have nightmares from somebody that made a pretty accurate E. Honda (the fat dude from Street Fighter) cosplay. Oh and theres always 30 million Kindom Hearts/Final Fantasy cosplayers at these damned things... I swear, if I see another Sora or Kairi, I'm gonna freak. Oh and what the hell is up with these Yaoi paddles and crap? Oh and if ANYONE tries to glomp me, they are gonna get punched in the baby maker. Anime people scare me. And yet... I am a mod at a site that exists because of an anime show... Ironic? I think so. /rants
So... wanna know who won the last caption contest? Well, we all know it was up to Kroze to judge it but he was a little wuss and didn't feel like doing it so he pawned it off on me to judge. Thats right... all you people who tried bribing Kroze... yeah... sorry but it didn't work. He'll be doing it (or LK will... since he'll probably be back by then) for next week's caption contest so, sadly, no sucking up to me. Anyway, zee winnah of zis weeks contest eez: Ddevil!
Surprisingly enough, this week's picture isn't as totally off topic as you think...
Dan Green who is the voice of Yugi in the 4Kids dub also provides a voice for a character in Viva Pinata, which a sound from that game was stolen by Halo 3 for the special easter egg skull "Grunt Birthday Party" and since a certain Super Special Awesome Site Admin (Kroze) had a birthday this past Wednesday, makes the picture perfect to make captions for!

Server Maintenance Anouncement: From Magick
During the next few weeks we will be upgrading the servers that host the Website and the IRC. There will be small downtimes during NON-PEAK times of the day.
I will make announcements on the forums prior to any downtime, and i promise to make them as short as possible. The new server is sexah, ya'll will love it :-p
And knowing nothing of Halo, your rant looses some of it's "oomph" with the uneducated like myself.
On the upside, it was nice of Korn to let the white guy in that music video borrow the set from their Freak on a Leash music video at the end of his. Very sporting of them.

I'm sorry if we are trying to keep you all entertained while LK is away and we thought that pic would be a nice change after having 14 weeks of Yu-Gi-Oh pic captions that most people just kept taking the captions from the actual series and not being original and/or funny with...

Well SOOOOOOOOOORY for boring you. With everything involved in making that post it took me damned near 3-4 hours to make. I had to read through 12 pages of captions, judge them, doubt what I judged, re read alot of them, talk with my girlfriend, actually write the post, edit it, go back and edit it some more, deal with some friend drama, and then edit the post even further. I spent my whole Friday night on this post and I dare you to make a better news post before criticizing them next time.
Well of course Dan Green does a voice in Viva Pinata. He's 4kids' bitch. Anywho... Nope, can't think of anything for the contest. Mostly because my damn sister has gone insane and claimed the 360 for herself. We're currently trying to smoke her out of her room.
But don't you think just having only the caption contests over and over again for a full month and a half be a BIT boring for everyone and no real news?
Also, you have gotten information about The Abridged Series going to a convention so I wouldn't say it has been totally off topic as well as Ben's last news posts stating the new members to the moderator team.
And we try our hardest to keep everything entertaining for everyone while making this place a fun site to be on.
I apologize for coming off harsher than I really had the right to be, but that's just my opinion. I'm by no means trying to demean the time you've put into writing this, I just had a difficult time actually getting through it.
Still, I'm not on the Writing Staff or anything with a really awesome title, so, I'm Sorry. I have No right to criticize the work of the admins.
Meh, There's been news regarding the convention and shirts, and what not. So I wouldn't say it's been entirely the Caption Contest. Yeah, I see where you're coming from though.
I really am over reacting about this. I haven't had a problem with the past few News Updates, I just get irritated by the random bursts of personal stuff added to the News. Something about the extra three paragraphs about Halo 4 added in just made me angry. Maybe because I can't go a day without people dragging Halo 3 into my discussions anymore...
So, once again, Sorry for being a Hypocrite.

Well keep in mind its all about different peoples tastes and with several people writing news posts you are bound to get several different ways of doing them.
Also keep in mind that many webcomics also do news posts about relevant things in their lives that are happening, Dix just completely sucks at Halo and he had the need to tell the world that he does...
Plus, it gives us all the opportunity to make fun of him for sucking so much!
Considerng the only "captions" that ever win are ones that photoshop the picture into a completely different picture, defeating the point of having a caption contest on the origninal picture, I decided to use my own mass photoshop skills. If you can't beat em, join em, eh?
I would just like to mention that the Sonic caption almost DID win and that was not photoshopped at all....
Came very close and the only reason it didn't win is because it was just taking my own words in that news post and put on the pic I chose for the contest that week... although it did make me lol the hardest and was clever as hell.
Sorry Dix, i dont mean it. You're cool, evn though i dont know a thing about Halo 3.
I don't actaully mind the guys mixing things up a little with the caption contest, come on ppl, change is EXCITING. I just wanted to clear that up coz my entries seem to (well, do) mock the pic a bit but that's what i came up with.
Hmm..... Kudos for helping while LK is away... but i don't think i'm going to be entering any non-yugioh caption contests on a yugioh based website anytime soon..... Even if you guys think it's boring, the majority of the fans didn't... & that's the whole reason for the contests, right? It's something for us to participate in, and have fun along the way. I'm not trying to say you guys haven't done a good job.... but I think it'd be a lot easier keeping the site popular if you stayed on subject...
What the hell is everyone going on about? One little Caption Contest that doesn't exactly involve Yugioh? So what, it won't kill you. It's okay if you prefer not to participate in them (though if you're doing that only as a protest of a sort it's pretty childish), but seriously, the whining is starting to get on MY nerves as well.
Besides even though I don't know pretty much anything about Halo, I had some fun reading Dix's rant about it (while understanding nothing about the subject itself).
We just figure we try something a bit different this week, next week you'll have your good ol Yu-Gi-Oh caption contest back.
I really didn't think there would be that much of an uproar over something like this...
I do think its unfair to classify this place as a "Yugioh based website" since I personally know we have a lot of Abridged Series fans on here who have never seen the actual show before.
Thats a bit like calling Red Vs. Blue a "Halo based website" or Joss Whedon's website a "Vampire based site".
This series caters to the entire internet crowd (Especially with the many many other pop-culture refrences LK has thrown in the videos) and with Halo 3 still being so big, we figured that it would be relevant overall.
It was worth a shot to try something new and if it doesn't go well this week then oh well...
