This past weekend Dix and I went down to Hampton, Virginia to Nekocon and it was a great time had by all.
We had a full season 1 showing of Abridged Series and the room was PACKED which was amazing seeing as how we were fighting against the Con Rave for people, and yet we ended up filling all the seats so some people had to stand.
During the showing, all the fans were crazy! When "Screw the rules, I have money!" or "In America!" was said, the ENTIRE audience would it along with the video. There was just so much energy from the fans in there.
Also the showing managed to make a few new fans of the series, and for those of you looking at this news post right now, I welcome you to the site and hope you stick around!
Something that really surprised me was the age gap the series spans... we had a few people in their 40s in there supporting the series. I never figured we reached that age group.
We also had a great response at our table in Artists Alley and I would like to thank all of you reading this right now who dropped by and bought a shirt and or said hello. You guys are what keep this series and site running and we love you all for that.
During the long weekend at our booth we even managed to pick up some groupies who did favors for us and just kept us company... BIG thanks to Matt for making the "Real men play children's card games" pins and introducing both Dix and I at the Abridged Screening, you are the MAN dawg! Also big props to a guy I dubbed "Appa-man" who was dressed up as Sokka from Avatar: The Last Airbender. He carried around stuffed Appas of various sizes and amused us with his company!
You two and others like you are the reasons we went to this convention so thanks for making us feel like we were welcome (And for the Skittles :P).
Other thanks go out to Ren, Dizz and the rest of the Nekocon staff for being so flexible and tolerant, Dave Lister from Paradox Lost who let us hang and invited us to help him out on his panel he was asked to do at last second and the rest of his crew, The guys over at Yosh! Comics and Adam Golden for being such awesome table neighbors, Michelle Knotz for putting up with my constant pestering over the entire weekend to meet with her and go over Death By Pixel stuff, and Dave from Snafu Comics for overnighting us the shirts so we would have them on time for the convention!
I urge you all to check them out seeing as how they helped us all out a hell of a lot and deserve your attention if only for 5 minutes or so!
All in all, It was a tiring, awesome weekend that Dix and I look forward to going back to again next year!
Now I am sorry I have been so busy with the convention and everything to take care of the Caption Contest winners but that changes right now!

And if you haven't picked up the newest Phoenix Wright game for the DS I demand you all do so right now!
Pure awesome...
The runners up were DanBLON00's recapturing how Dix and I felt at Nekocon and CandyWitch's effort to piss off Bakura by making a Scooby-Doo reference.
And in Special Mention we have the lovable Underling who went above and beyond with his attempts to make sense out of all the rants directed at last weeks news post..
Congrats to everyone who won and for those of you who didn't win... well, U FAIL! B MOAR FUNNY NEX TIEM! :P
Now since LittleKuriboh has returned from his hibernation of hiding from all the insane fans demanding more Abridged Series episodes moving into a new home with Safty, I will let him take care of this weeks Caption Contest in a news post coming soon (Hopefully)...

I put up my con report about Nekocon earlier tonight- we both gave him the title of Appa-Man XD But I guess that was easy enough to do - considering the Appas... Anyways it was great seeing ya there, hopefully we will run into each other again if you happen to go to anymore cons. Well take care! |

Also, are we expecting about the same prices for the new tee-shirts as the old ones were? Keep forgetting to ask that... |

| #24 Posted 10 months ago | Reply | | Oooooh, if you guys feel like going to British Columbia, Canada sometime in August, you should go to Anime Evolution and sell some merchandise and plug the site and whatever else you guys did at Nekocon. I even met up with a group of cosplayers dressed as some of the characters from Season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh! who were rumored to have been quoting the Abridged series all day, which just proves that there are huge fans of the series all the way out here too. |

This was the first convention that the Abridged Series was represented at. If you want this site to grow, this is the first step in gaining more users. I'd like to think that we gained a hell of a lot of new visitors due to the convention this weekend. Oh and by the way, KROZE BUILT THIS SITE FOR LK. Along with Ben, Kroze is responsible for keeping this site up and running.
And as for no longer including anything non-YGO:TAS related, as I have already said, its not gonna happen. We are trying to cater to more than just the hardcore YGO:TAS fan here to increase our userbase.
Not only that but with all those links to other sites, its us scratching other sites backs because if you actually visit them, they have also linked to our site and said that we are pretty cool and to definitely check us out. Getting that kind of linkage is ONLY going to help us. We've started to build a great reputation and we only hope to build on it. Expect posts like this to be occurring more frequently as we go to more and more conventions.
