| #211 Posted 1 year ago, in reply to post #209 by mewpudding101 | Reply | HeavyDDR was only suggesting that you love Japanese people more than any other kind of people, I don't see how that makes him/her racist... Also, adding -kun or -san or any other ending will confuse the quadruple-asterisk out of the people who don't know Japanese honorifics, as well as piss off the English Majors. And sometimes, it's just annoying to add in things from another language (like how lawyers will invariably spout Latin phrases that normal people don't know the meaning of). Although you were quite right to be indignant, you might have over-reacted... |

| #215 Posted 1 year ago, in reply to post #209 by mewpudding101 | Reply | | There's nothing racist about such a statement, really. That's equivalent to saying that a pedophile, to use the example from a few posts ago, is discriminative based on age, which they aren't. By means of age, they qualify certain people for certain things, but they're not discriminating against people any more than you are discriminating against people if you're attracted to only one gender and not the other. That's not discrimination except in the most anally retentive of definitions, and neither is calling you Japanophilic. Whether it's true or not is completely questionable, all depends on you, but identifying you as a Japanophilic does not insinuate that they are being racist by any means. |

I said you have a fetish for Japanese people/things.
... No racism there.
Just because he has a Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh clip on his account doesn't make it appropriate to use -kun and other things. It would be appropriate if everything about this site was in Japanese and you were speaking Japanese.
Using -kun doesn't make you culturally aware.
Trust me, I did a lot of thinking before I posted that. Exact thoughts:
"Seriously, this person seems like a fag."
"Should I throw some caps in there or not?"
"How do I spell Japanophile again?"
"This person is totally gonna throw some hatin' preach after this."
My life is screwed up for knowing how to speak proper English? |

| #222 Posted 1 year ago, in reply to post #156 by HeavyDDR | Reply | | I also use the japanese endings like "Kun" "Sama" or i call my boyfriends brother "nii sama" and i'm not japanese. It is just soemthing polite to do. The entire western civilization is just to disrespectful, the few of us that know some japanese use it in respectful ways. None of us here are Japanophiles, especially me...considering that my bf is japanese. WE all just choose to use the politeness of another race to express ourselfs. Now is that honestly so wrong? |

|
| #224 Posted 1 year ago, in reply to post #222 by Saa | Reply | There are ways to be polite in English too.
"Sir?"
"Ma'am?"
"Madame?"
"Brother?"
"Sister?"
And slang terms are beginning to be used to show respect at times.
"Dude?"
"Man?"
"Bro?"
It's not like people who use English are rude. And the above is exactly the same. Japan just has a ton more for every thing.
So don't you go on trying to say things like the western civilization is disrespectful just because we don't have 101 respect-phrased. |

I'm gonna have to side with mewpudding101 on this one...except for the whole race card debacle. But seriously, if the dude wants to use dis/honorifics, then by all means, use them! What's with all the multilingual grammar-Nazi-ism? If this isn't a Japanese site, then why should it matter? First it was the caption contest, and now you can't express otaku-ness or use -kun or -san or -chan or -sama or kawaii or desu ne or yatta without being crucified!
You're all bakas anyway. |

| #231 Posted 1 year ago, in reply to post #226 by shameonpretzel | Reply | Well, sure, use honorifics if you feel like publicly saying your relationship to that person. Just don't use "-chan" on guys that aren't younger than you (unless you really want to dis them...) As for Japanese words... I sometimes like the English equivalents more. For "kawaii" there's *squee*, for "yatta" there's "pwn'd!" or "w00t", "ne" randomly thrown in a sentence (even where it's appropriate) just kinda annoys me, and I don't know what "desu ne" means (which also proves my point about using Japanese around people who don't know it).
It's not that I'm against anything Japanese; it also goes for things like randomly speaking in another language, people throwing Japanese phrases in anime fics, people throwing in French phrases in PotO phics, stuff like that. I don't know why it annoys me when people do that. Not that you need my permission to speak Japanese phrases in here or anything- I don't have any authority here anyways! ^ ^""
BTW, freezingfire, adding "ski" to the end of your words is more racist than HeavyDDR calling mewpudding101 a "Japanophile". I'd appreciate it if you don't do that. |

Wow. I'd hate to live your life. People like you should be nice, or leave. I WAS BEING NICE TO THE ADMINS AND LITTLE KURIBOH. What do you do, every time someone gives a compliment, you call them a fag? I'm far from overreacting. I'm just reacting in return for your rude behavior. Unchi baka. YES, I spoke in Japanese, is that a problem with your life, are you going to die of cancer because I spoke in another language? If you did, I'd shake my head in pity. |

Anyway, it puzzles me how you obviously do not enjoy LK (who, for some reason, you always refer to as LittleUK) as much as most of us do, and still continue to post on this forum and annoy other people. |
