Remember it wasn't just this site that experienced these problems. Even if he for some unrealistic reason had this huge grudge against this site and was immature enough to crash it, why would he do it on all the servers? |

| #82 Posted 6 months ago | Reply | It's nice to see the site back up. There has been a spate of hackings and DDoS attacks over the last six months*. Since the server was hacked I imagine it was a vulnerability in server code and not something to do with this site itself. These days hacking is BIG business and the real brains behind it are sophisticated and always probing for new weaknesses they can exploit. You simply can't be too paranoid in this day and age ... unfortunately.
Now as far as caching goes, that is something you'll see in search engines. Say, for example, you search Google you can click the little 'cached' links. /shrug There's no telling what a little Google-Fu will turn up.

*Allakhazam was knocked off the web several times and ultimately had to move to a new, more secure server. Just a week ago or so most of the player sites for EQ had their forums hacked into although, to my knowledge, nothing severe came of it. Everyone had their passwords reset and there was a giant headache patching up the database vulnerabilities. |

It's an invisionfree, so nothing like this server, though I don't know if that has to do with anything.

Thanks for that hint. I had a heap of stories that I had written in my blog that I never saved and luckly the majority of them I wrote where on the first page of the chached version of my blog has it there. |

(sadly, there were only two cached pages with my posts, and in one of them half of the posts could be seen on the first cached page. At least there was one witty post from the second page, though.) |
