Why is VK so popular?

The way I see it is that it has a little bit of everything to suit a range of tastes; romance, action, comedy, pretty boys/girls. It pretty much hits a lot of bases and manages to balance them together, whereas other animes either pick one and do it well or try and mix genres and fail miserably. |

But, I am getting a really sick of people going nuts everytime someone says "Vampire".
Seriously, Werewolves are better anyway. |
