Temporary Hiatus
(180 comments, posted 9 months ago by LittleKuriboh)
I regret to inform you that, due to certain circumstances (i.e. I'm moving into a new place and finding a new job), I won't be able to visit the website or make new episodes for a while. I won't even be able to run the Caption Contest, which I'm sure is heartbreaking to you all. However, I shall return eventually. Probably within a month or two. And that day shall be glorious and stuff.

In the meantime, I leave the Caption Contest in the somewhat capable hands of Kroze - or whoever he deems worthy of handing the task over to himself.

Toodles.

Winner this week is mother****ing Cyberlink420 with his mother****ing entry which goes as mother****ing follows:

Mako: That is the LAST time I act as a stunt double for Samuel L. Jackson!

Hilarious, I'm sure you'll agree. And if you don't, then... There you have it. Runners-up (or is that runner-ups?) were cappy1510, Meowzy, and CybrSpacJake. Wow, lotta people with "cyber" in their name... You'd think we were on the internets or something.

Here's the new picturemadoodle:

Bonus points for explaining where KaibaCorp brand milk comes from.

Last week's winner was OrangeSoda with his faux Smash Bros. Dojo entry. It's a little big to feature on the front page, but it's worth checking out.

As are each of the runner-ups, namely pirhomaniac, madkap42, and Spudlington.

If you didn't win, feel free to try your luck again this week. Here's the new picture to ridicule:

As always, post your entries in the appropriate News thread in the forums. Or alternatively click the comments link at the top left of this entry.

Sorry I didn't update this yesterday - but what with the new episodes and all, I figured you'd be too busy watching those to think of captions. Or maybe I just forgot. We'll never know! By the way, those new episodes are still there in the Episodes section. Go look! Also, for all our registered users, you know have the option to create your own blog. It should be right next to your username at the top of the screen.

Last week's winner was LadyAbaxa with Yugi's last known photo:

Runners-up included raininess' somewhat creepy entry, Mizuchi's Scarface-ariffic caption, and DarkMaster125 threatens our people with slavery and death.

Here's the new picture to caption.

Entries do not have to be in the form of an image file. You can just write the text you wish to use as a caption.
New episodes (plus bonus vid)

So you've waited long enough, and finally your patience has paid off. We have new videos available in the Episodes section. Two whole new episodes, and another video that depicts the trials and tribulations of a Yu-Gi-Oh villain.

Just to clarify - the episodes are not made on any strict schedule. I know these videos were a tad "late" in the making, but they were made all the same. I'll never stop making the series - it just gets delayed from time to time.

Besides, if you ever get bored of waiting for my show, you could always go watch actual Yu-Gi-Oh episodes. *snort*

Last week's winner comes in the form of Bramble's rather chilling creation...

The runners up were bringing the cute with raininess's adorable attempt, Kiviar's precious picture, and Bramimond's somewhat disturbing image.

Here's your new captioning mission, should you choose to accept it.

New Episodes Host

Hello everyone. Huge announcement for you today concerning the episodes situation. As you may know for a while now we've been serving episode downloads from our server and flash streaming from Brightcove. Yeah... turns out that wasn't a very effective solution. So we're changing, and we're changing to Revver.

So why is this a good change? Well let me walk you through the things that make Revver so awesome.

1. It's Just Like YouTube
Revver is a whole video sharing website, just like YouTube is. Fortunately for us that means if we get loads of views on our episodes we'll climb up the "Most Watched" list on the site and probably end up on the front page. If one of our episodes gets on the front page of Revver, LOADS of people are going to see it. I'm talking about a gazillion people. And getting the word out of YGOTAS is good, right?

2. Advertising
I know what you're going to say. "Oh dudes, you're selling out." Well, not really. He's why. The ads at the bottom of the site do NOT provide us with enough money. We're nowhere close to breaking even, and running the site is a majorly expensive endeavour. We're losing money keeping the site alive, I don't know the exact number of how much we're losing, but I don't particularly want to know. Fortunately hosting on Revver not only takes the download hits off of our servers, but also allows us to embed REALLY short, unannoying ads. How much do these ads help? Imagine if we took the banner at the bottom of the page and duplicated it 6 times all over the place. That is how much more money we'd be getting. And we need money to keep the servers from dying! So advertising in the episodes is a good thing, because I prefer the servers being alive over dead.

3. MAKE MONEY ON SHARING IT.
If you get a friend into the Abridged Series, you can get a cut from the ad revenue! When you're watching one of our videos on Revver.com and you're signed in, you can spread the link to the video with your special sharer ID attached which means that you get 20% of all ad revenue (we get 40%, Revver gets 40%). So if there's ever been a time to tell friends about TAS, this is the time.

I would really love to hear your guys thoughts on this. This site is FOR the community, and I'm just one man - there's 7,422 others that also use the site and want it there way. So if you have any suggestions, criticisms, ideas, I would be extremely happy to hear them. Thanks, and rock on.

araloki won last week's contest with the following caption:

"Marik: There's trouble in Cairo, time for me to reveal my secret identity, TORSO MAN!

Odion: Sir... you don't have any super powers.

Marik: TORSO MAN AWAY! WHOOSH! ZOOM!"

Odion: ......."

The official runner-up was Voa's Bat-tastic caption, alongside Helix's very traumatising image. Oh, and as always, Dawn rolfs it up.

Here's the new picture to fiddle about with.

Caption Contest #7

First off, a few people were telling me that I should stop doing the Caption Contest if it interferes with making new abridged episodes. Rest assured, the Caption Contest takes me maybe an hour to work on. It's not distracting me from anything. What is distracting me from making new videos is the fact that I just got engaged - but obviously, that's not something I can just put aside.

Let it be known that I am working on new episodes - and there's a few other videos in store that aren't part of the series, but they'll be fun nonetheless.

Last week's winner was Hashmere with the following caption:

Mostly because I think Weevil looks good with a monocle. But then, who doesn't look good with a monocle?

The runners up were OrangeSoda, Vinny187, and Helix.

Here's the new picture... Wait for it...

I'm just asking for trouble with this one. And to get thing's started, I'm gonna throw in a caption of my own:

Marik re-enacts the infamous Lex Luger vs Shirt video.

"Superbrawl Saturday?! I don't know!"

Fixed link to OrangeSoda's entry... no need to thank me by showering me with diamonds or gold... OR GOLD DIAMONDS! Yeah! I really like those...

I'm on to you!

Like, good luck, or something.
