Hey, in case you haven't already seen it, the video of our Nekocon Abridged Showing introduction is now up for your viewing pleasure. I have also utilised my crafty HTML skills to embed it in this news post. Damn, I'm a genius. Also we now have news alerts in your watchlist, as you may have already seen, so there's that for this week's site update.

Also check out more of the good times from Nekocon at Dix's playlist on Revver.

And for those wondering, the Disc Error was all my fault due to me burning a Data DVD rather than a VIdeo DVD... yeah... I fail at burning DVD's.
Oh and Nekocon was a convention in Virginia.

We've done it! Just now user #10,000 has joined our site. We would like to thank them (and all of you 9,999 before) that have helped us reach this amazing milestone.

Now, onward, to world domination!

New info: Contrary to what seems to be a common idea now amongst some Wikipedia users, we did NOT reach 10,000 users by using a user creating script. We were attacked in an attempt to crash our servers with said user creating script.
Our userbase was at roughly 10,045 when the script created approx. 5,000 additional accounts. We had to shut the site down for about an hour while Kroze reset the userlist to right before the attack. Again, we had reached the 10k mark hours before the user script attacked our registration system.

New User Registration is now Live again. We are constantly working to improve your user experience at www.yugiohabridged.com and if features and such go down we apoligize.

We recently added PM replying for the whole userbase. This should help to make things easier while PMing people! More features to come later!

In case you don't read LittleKuriboh's LiveJournal (hehe, LKLJ) here's the latest post:
Salutations, Abridgedphiles. It's me, LittleKuriboh, back from my somewhat lengthy absence. Safty and I finally have internets at our disposal, so we should now be able to post on a more frequent basis.

Good news is, our new home is a beauty. We live in a nice enough area, right opposite a bus line into town. There are some minor problems (garden's a mess, heating is a little wonky, etc) but they're nothing that can't be fixed in time once we're fully settled in. I've managed to get myself a new job here, and I've also joined a theatre group with Safty. The best part is that we've also both been cast in the local pantomime "Sleeping Beauty" - myself as the narrator, and Safty as the titular narcoleptic princess. So if you feel like coming to see my stage debut, come on down to Scunthorpe and nab yourself some tickets. Just don't yell Abridged quotes during the performance. It'll throw me off, and likely confuse all the child actors I have to work with.

So yeah, that's the situation for now. I'm going to get to work on making new videos ASAP - I'm literally poised at the PC with some YGO DVDs ready for burning, so don't think for a moment I'm not serious. I am. Deadly serious.

But then again, it's not long until they release Mass Effect... So who knows. I might get a little distracted. *gulp*

Nice to see you all again. :)
So, to paraphrase LK is back in town. How do I celebrate this occasion? Why, you ask, with the following song. Why don't we all enjoy the song together.

So, Ben's turn to news post today. Hi everybody, how're you doing. A couple of shocking turn of events have been transpiring recently. We added two more to our Mod force, Joel and DarkWarrior. I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction. They've been doing a great job so far and I hope you welcome them to our community with open arms. They do what they must because they can, for the good of all of us. Except the ones who are dead.

The new shirts are coming along well. They should be here very, very soon. We're out of beta, we're releasing on time.

If anybody is going to Nekocon on November 2nd - 4th in Virginia, look out for us (and by 'us' I mean Kroze and Dix)! We will hopefully be selling the new shirts at our booth and there will also be a screening of The Abridged Series (hopefully). More info closer to the date. But if you intend on going out to Virginia some time then, mark the date in your calendar! If you can't make it, that's okay. There's no sense crying over every mistake. Just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Anyway, this cake is great. It's so delicious and moist. Look at me still talking when there's coding to do. I've experiments to run, there is research to be done. I'm doing programming and I'm still alive. I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive. While you're dying I'll be still alive. And when you're dead I will be still alive. STILL ALIVE.

Hello everyone. Huge announcement for you today concerning the episodes situation. As you may know for a while now we've been serving episode downloads from our server and flash streaming from Brightcove. Yeah... turns out that wasn't a very effective solution. So we're changing, and we're changing to Revver.

So why is this a good change? Well let me walk you through the things that make Revver so awesome.

1. It's Just Like YouTube
Revver is a whole video sharing website, just like YouTube is. Fortunately for us that means if we get loads of views on our episodes we'll climb up the "Most Watched" list on the site and probably end up on the front page. If one of our episodes gets on the front page of Revver, LOADS of people are going to see it. I'm talking about a gazillion people. And getting the word out of YGOTAS is good, right?

2. Advertising
I know what you're going to say. "Oh dudes, you're selling out." Well, not really. He's why. The ads at the bottom of the site do NOT provide us with enough money. We're nowhere close to breaking even, and running the site is a majorly expensive endeavour. We're losing money keeping the site alive, I don't know the exact number of how much we're losing, but I don't particularly want to know. Fortunately hosting on Revver not only takes the download hits off of our servers, but also allows us to embed REALLY short, unannoying ads. How much do these ads help? Imagine if we took the banner at the bottom of the page and duplicated it 6 times all over the place. That is how much more money we'd be getting. And we need money to keep the servers from dying! So advertising in the episodes is a good thing, because I prefer the servers being alive over dead.

3. MAKE MONEY ON SHARING IT.
If you get a friend into the Abridged Series, you can get a cut from the ad revenue! When you're watching one of our videos on Revver.com and you're signed in, you can spread the link to the video with your special sharer ID attached which means that you get 20% of all ad revenue (we get 40%, Revver gets 40%). So if there's ever been a time to tell friends about TAS, this is the time.

I would really love to hear your guys thoughts on this. This site is FOR the community, and I'm just one man - there's 7,422 others that also use the site and want it there way. So if you have any suggestions, criticisms, ideas, I would be extremely happy to hear them. Thanks, and rock on.

Hi. Me again. I need to ask a quick question to those visitors that live in the UK. Say there was a live event hosted in the UK, where you could meet LittleKuriboh, chat with loads of other fans, and generally have a cool day out... would you go? We (I) need to know how much interest there is for this kind of event before anything happens. Please vote with the super-quick form below and it'll help out big time. Your vote is hugely beneficial!

Do you follow topics? Is there one you always post in? Wouldn't it be nice if you could get updates whenever there's a new post made in that topic? Well, gosh darnit, I've made that possible for you lovely people today.

When in a topic, click the "Watch" button. Now, whenever you're strolling around anywhere else on the site and that topic is updated, you will get a polite message saying you should get down there!

Try it out on any topic you like. Hey, even this news post's topic. Then go off elsewhere in the forum and soon you'll see what I mean. Have a nice day now!

- Ben, your friendly site developer.

[ And by friendly I mean I'm going to kill you. ]

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. The "Mr President" joke was spot on! LK is truly a comedic genius.
