| #73 Posted 1 year ago in Who was 6ixty 4our? | | Ah, I remember 6ixty4our. He was basically an Xbox-360 fanboy. Plain and simple. Thats about it. He loved the Xbox-360, and hated everyone who didn't. He was just as annoying as your usual sony fanboy, just with the 360 instead.
Nothing however nearly as fun as the DDR vs 64 threads.
For some reason they just could never get along.
I blame the fanboys.
Then again, I always blame the fanboys..... |

Why does Shadowrun have a large fanbase? Or GoW? Neither of them are particularly innovative, or in actual fact that impressive really, (don't harp on at me about graphics, Gears is narrow corridors with good shadows) Nor is Halo.
But in terms of games, GoW and Halo are damn good. So is Rainbow 6: Vegas.
And Oblivion.
The media hypes them up, so every sheep in the country comes to the game.
Why is this a pain? because it makes it a hell of a lot harder to get a good game.
If people go around saying "halo roxors my soxors" then people will think that a) all halo fans are idiots and b) it won't live up to the hype.
Like christmas when you're old enough to be cynical but young enough to be naive. It never lives up to what you think it might just be.
And you never get that one damned present.....
What was my point?
My point was this: forget the review sites and everyone make up your own damn mind about if the game is good or not. Then we might not have to constantly worry about flame wars breaking out over the popular game of the month.
p.s. for the record, i like both Halo and Gears, but Shadowrun sort of passed me by.

Double jumping really is just a particular thing really. Halo has a large jump. gears has no jump. Unreal has double jump. Three extremely different games. Lets try not to over-generalise, hmm? I would be willing to bet, infact, that there are probably an even number of jump to double jump games. Maybe slightly in the favour of single jump.
Disadvantages? Advantages? No such thing. Just a different style of gameplay. Sure, you can have disadvantages of using or not using. but come on. Is it better to have or not to have? Thats like comparing sailing and powerboating. Very different, albeit both do the same thing. |

| #71 Posted 1 year ago in The HHC/T (Halo Haters Club/thread) + FPS thread | | Me thinks that the reason Halo is so popular (amoung the people that are more then sheep anyways) is because its easy to pick up. You can grab the controller, mess about, then throw it to a friend and he won't spend half an hour being killed by a grunt.
Unlike GoW, it's pretty easy for newbies. When I was playing Gears with my xbox-challenged-friends, they were fairly consistantly 'nade tag bait. But with Halo, they scored quite a bit.
As for the "best shooter of all time" arguement, really all you need to do is wave Doom infront of them and anyone with taste will realise that graphics don't count for sh*t, and DOOM 1 is a pretty damn good game.
Oooooh, Gears has 8 player online play! Woop-dey-f*cking-doo, DOOM was the original Deathmatch game! Halo's lobbys?
Yeah, I will admit that they do beat DOOM and Gears.
But does Halo have a chainsaw?
I think not.

Halo is still a pretty damn good game though, and works pretty well around the limitations of the console. Gears didn't really have lots of weapons. There were half a dozen swappable weapons, and you could only have two, grenades, (which should be a seperate thing entirely. Why do you have to put away your gun to use grenades? It's just silly.... and a pistol which was more or less useless.
DOOM on the other hand, how can I carry two shotguns, a BFG, a chainsaw, plasma gun, rocket launcher and more? At least two weapons is realistic.
Wow, the tone of my post really changed there.... Sorry, just wanted to be fairer since the start of the post was fairly anti-console and the end was fairly pro-Halo. Try and mix them up a bit. You know, make it all even  |

Because most people resort to flaming him, and one guy stands up, (if he actually believe what he's saying or if he's playing devil's advocate is irrelevent) and ends up looking like a jackass. No pun intended.
Seriously though, Jack has good intentions, he just is actually a dumbass who doesn't realise that he's not helping anybody.
A bit like that guy in films who works for teh bad guys but actually thinks he works for the goodies.
He's that guy.
Except add a shit load of idiocy to him.
He doesn't deserve us to cut off his balls, then stick them up his ass then when he shits, he'll be crapping all over his balls, but he does deserve to shut the hell up.
After all, nobody likes a dumbass who just voices his opinions as facts, right? |

Thats right.
The original box was a MUCH better console then the PS2, but which was more succesful? They PS2. Which came out first.
Time is such a stupid factor becasue the PS3 is floundering due to the fact that no console gets games which exploit it's full potential for at least a few years, yet Sony are already telling everyone that the 360 is pale competition.
So I'm voting 360 is winning because of time factor. |

The Wii isnt that bad, the 360 just has games that are more for me. But I'd get a Wii if I could. Please can we keep this thread as a talk about how the 360 is good and not be fanboys bashing every other console? *looks at 6ixty4our :-P* |
