Message boards cause brain cancer. And boy did I seriously give this topic a bump.

chuckle - messages apparently never get sent to the right people where cons are concerned

I've been running the big saturday night fan dub parody show at animeNext since 2003. It's also known as the anti-Cosplay show since it's scheduled at the same time as the masquerade and a few minutes are spent making fun of cosplayers.

Back in 2007, I didn't know of the existence of YTAS so it wasn't on the schedule (the abovementioned link was in the guests forum and the two staffers who replied to it never gave me a heads up). It also wasn't on the schedule for MangaNext 2007 (the much smaller convention held in the fall where I ran the video room). At that con, someone told me about YTAS, I tracked it down on the internet, we showed a whole lot of at animeNext 2008, and it seemed to go over VERY well.

It was nice to meet Kroze and friends at the con. I didn't know they were there. They didn't know we were showing YTAS. So it was all a mutual pleasant surprise. Hope y'all had a good time.

I'll be pushing for a fandub parody panel in '09, but if LK could do only one con this year, Otakon 2008 would probably be a good choice. They've done fandubber panels in the past, they have a huge venue and they're currently the 2nd largest anime con in the US (the largest on the east coast).

I'm Dominick from Long Island.
I like games, anime and especially anime fan dub parodies.
I dislike message board drama (some people take things said on the internet way too seriously).
I help organize anime conventions (most recently: animeNext 2008 in Secaucus NJ).
I also possess a wealth of useless information, the product of a fine liberal arts education.
